Otrivine-Antistin eye drops contain two active ingredients, antazoline and xylometazoline. Antazoline is type of medicine called an antihistamine. Xylometazoline is a type of medicine called a vasoconstrictor. Otravine Antistin eye drops relieve symptoms such as redness, swelling, itching and watery eyes.

These eye drops are suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. Always read the product information leaflet

How it works

  • Antazoline works by preventing the actions of histamine - a substance produced by the body when it reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen or pet fur.
  • Xylometazoline constricts blood vessels helping to prevent histamine from entering the eye membrane reducing redness and puffiness of the eyes.

Before using Otrivine:

  • These eye drops are suitable for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.

  • Don't wear soft contact lenses while you are using these eye drops as the drops contain a preservative that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses and cause eye irritation.
  • Your vision may blur temporarily after you've put the drops in your eyes. Don't drive or operate machinery until this has worn off.
  • When using the eye drops take care to not touch the dropper tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contaminating the eye drops.
  • Your eye drops should be discarded four weeks after the bottle is first opened.

How to Use

  • Wash your hands before using the eye drops. Adults should put one or two drops into each eye two or three times a day when needed to relieve symptoms. Elderly people and adolescents should only use one drop in each eye two or three times a day. Not for use in children under 12 years of age.

  • If your symptoms do not improve after two days of using these eye drops you should consult your doctor to make sure you don't have an eye infection that needs treating.
  • Don't use these eye drops for longer than seven days in a row without consulting your doctor, pharmacist or eye specialist.
